GUILFORD, Conn. — Mitchell-Vance Laboratories LLC has expanded its line of scar management products with ScarAway silicone scar sheets.

Like the already marketed ScarAway 100%-silicone gel serum, the new sheets are said to shrink, flatten and fade hypertrophic and keloid scars.

Visible results are seen in a few weeks, with best results coming after about 12 weeks, the company says.

The professional-grade, ultra-thin silicone sheets use the company’s patented Silon technology, which until now has been available only through hospitals, burn centers and plastic surgeons.

“Surgeons, dermatologists, ob-gyns and physical therapists are recommending ScarAway to their patients and urging them to try this safe, effective and affordable method of scar treatment and prevention,” comments Mitchell-Vance Laboratories president Jessica Rowen.

Over the years, several clinical studies have demonstrated that silicone sheeting is a safe and effective way to treat scars, notes Rowen. One such study concluded that silicone sheets were able to visibly improve as many as 95% of hypertrophic and keloid scars, she says.
