GREAT NECK, N.Y. — Scarguard Labs LLC has received approval from Health Canada to sell Scarguard dermatological products to doctors and consumers throughout Canada.
The Great Neck, N.Y.-based maker of scar management products, as well as treatments for psoriasis, eczema and other dermatological conditions, said the approval paves the way for the company’s first sales outside the U.S. market.
"We are very pleased to gain approval for retail in our first international market," commented Joel Studin, chairman and chief executive officer of Scarguard Labs. "The Canadian market provides an opportunity for Scarguard to increase overall sales and profits by an estimated 15% while driving brand awareness with physicians as well as consumers."
Scarguard Labs noted that its dermatological medications employ a patented delivery system designed to enhance drug effectiveness utilizing a multitechnology approach. Its flagship scar treatment product, Scarguard MD, is the most frequently dispensed product in plastic surgery offices product for scars since 2001, it can be found in most pharmacies, drug distributors, mass merchants and major supermarket chains throughout the United States, according to the company.
Other products from Scarguard Labs include Scarlight MD (for lightening skin discolorations), Solarguard MD (for sun protection for scars and other sensitive skin) and Bruiseguard MD (for bruise reduction).
