Serena Williams serves up Sleep Sheets at Walgreens

Tennis star Serena Williams has introduced Sleep Sheets, a new natural sleep aid from Sheets Brand available exclusively at Walgreens.

NEW YORK — Tennis star Serena Williams has introduced Sleep Sheets, a new natural sleep aid from Sheets Brand available exclusively at Walgreens.

Sheets Brand owner PureBrands said Friday that Sleep Sheets dissolvable strips are designed to support a person’s natural sleep cycle and provide relief to the roughly 60 million Americans who have occasional sleep problems each year.

Williams, a co-founder of Sheets Brands, unveiled the new sleep remedy on Friday at the Walgreens drug store in Manhattan’s Times Square.

"We are excited to launch Sleep Sheets exclusively at Walgreens and to have Serena Williams unveil it at our Times Square location," Walgreens district manager Jerry Telson said in a statement. "By offering innovative new products like Sleep Sheets, we are meeting America’s health and daily living needs and helping our customers live well, stay well and get well."

According to PureBrands, Williams has struggled with sleep issues for years, and she played a major role in the process by working with scientists and Sheets Brand partners to develop a sleep remedy with only natural active ingredients.

"As an athlete and businesswoman, I’m continuously on-the-go and have had issues sleeping for years," Williams stated. "I’ve tried other products in the past, and I am happy that I helped develop Sleep Sheets. Using them allows me to get a good night’s sleep, which means that I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start my day. As an added bonus, Sleep Sheets are extremely portable and conveniently packaged so I can take them anywhere which is perfect for my lifestyle."

Sleep Sheets are distinctive because they are paper-thin, individually wrapped dissolvable strips, noted Warren Struhl, chief executive officer of PureBrands. The new product uses proprietary technology initially developed for Sheets Brand Energy Strips.

"We kept hearing from consumers that they dislike swallowing pills and consuming beverages before going to sleep. With that in mind, we created Sleep Sheets as an alternative delivery system," Struhl explained. "When placed on your tongue, Sheets dissolve in seconds and are easily swallowed and digested. Each Sleep Sheet contains 3 mg of melatonin, 3 mg of L-theanine, 1 mg of goji berry extract and 1 mg of chamomile extract. The blend of these natural ingredients is formulated to help you get a restful night’s sleep."

For the product launch, Sheets Brand has teamed up with Walgreens for the "Dreams Come True" Sleep Sheets promotion.

Through July 31, consumers who buy Sleep Sheets from Walgreens get a chance to win a day with Serena Williams, including a trip for two to New York City plus a meet-and-greet with the tennis legend. As part of the promotion, instant-win golden tickets will be randomly inserted into Sleep Sheets packages. In addition, every package contains a second-chance sweepstakes that will allow fans to activate the promotion online at Facebook.com/takeasheet and win over a thousand other prizes such as Sheets branded T-shirts and hats.
