ATLANTA — Sharecare, the digital health company helping people manage all their health in one place, today announced it will be participating in Walmart Wellness events on Saturday, September 22 at more than 4,600 locations across the country. Sharecare’s participation in the largest health fair in the country is the latest expansion of its strategic partnership with Walmart – announced in May 2018 – aimed at helping people better understand, manage and improve their health.
“Our customers and the communities they live in are central to everything we do at Walmart, and when you consider the fact that 140 million people shop with Walmart every week, our Walmart Wellness events have the potential to start a ripple effect of positive behavior change across the country,” said David Hoke, senior director of associate health and wellbeing at Walmart. “Our relationship with Sharecare provides us with a unique and dynamic way to connect with and support the community in their health and wellbeing journey on a more personalized level – both inside and outside of our retail locations – and we look forward to working with them to forge a path that takes us all to a healthier, more vibrant future.”
Providing a unique experience for busy families to learn how they can make positive changes in their health to save money and live better, Walmart Wellness activities have provided millions of people with access to health services including free blood pressure, blood glucose and BMI screenings; low-cost immunizations; and consultations with local healthcare professionals and Walmart pharmacists. On September 22, in addition to those services, anyone attending Walmart Wellness events can take immediate action to improve their health by downloading the free Sharecare app and obtaining another critical number: their RealAge, which is the actual age of someone’s body versus their calendar age.
“When it comes to taking control of your health, there is nothing more powerful than knowing your most critical numbers – blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol andRealAge – and thanks to Walmart Wellness Day, getting that information has never been easier or more affordable,” said Dr. Mehmet Oz, cardiothoracic surgeon, nine-time Emmy Award-winning host of The Dr. Oz Show and co-founder of Sharecare. “The Sharecare team and I are excited to support Walmart to help everyone better understand, track and improve their health, no matter where they are in their health journey, and I look forward to showcasing this incredibly important initiative for my viewers on The Dr. Oz Show today.”
Once Walmart shoppers learn their RealAge, the Sharecare app will provide each individual with personalized, timely and actionable content and tools to improve their health and wellbeing. To help people put their personal health information into action, Sharecare enables each user to track their progress toward earning “green days,” Sharecare’s proprietary metric comprised of 13 key daily health indicators such as stress, activity, sleep, blood pressure and diet.
“Since announcing our partnership with Walmart earlier this year, we have worked together to motivate their associates on their wellness journey and celebrate the positive changes they are making in their lives – and now we are broadening our focus to deliver on the company’s commitment to improve the health of not only their associates and their families, but also the people who live in the communities Walmart serves,” said Jeff Arnold, co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Sharecare. “Providing people with the tools and resources they need to live their healthiest, happiest, most productive lives is at the core of everything we do, and we are excited to give those attending Walmart Wellness Day the ability to improve their health every day through the Sharecare app.”
