NEW YORK — South Beach Diet has extended its lineup of convenient, nutritious foods with South Beach Diet Snack Smoothies.

The company said Thursday that the rich and creamy Snack Smoothies contain just 100 calories yet are packed with 6 grams of protein and and 6 grams of fiber, helping keep diet-conscious consumers satisfied between meals.

The shelf-stable, single-serve and ready-to-drink smoothies are made with natural sweeteners like monk fruit extract, and each smoothie has 45% less sugar than the leading weight-loss shake, according to South Beach Diet. And unlike most shakes sold in the diet aisle, Snack Smoothies have no artificial flavors or sweeteners, the company noted.

Available in stores now, South Beach Diet Snack Smoothies come in Strawberry Banana, Wild Berry and Perfectly Peach flavors.

"We’re pleased with the high level of consumer excitement about the South Beach Diet Snack Smoothies," stated Elise Donahue, chief executive officer of South Beach Diet. "We like the idea of shaking things up in the diet aisle by providing a refreshing, fruity, nutritious snack that smoothly satisfies taste and hunger and is a perfect fit in a balanced, weight-loss plan. These Snack Smoothies are delicious treats, and a great snack, whether you’re on a diet or not."

South Beach Diet products are sold in such mass retail chains as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, Publix and Safeway.
