State associations honor BGC pharmacy professionals

TYLER, Texas – Three Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) pharmacy professionals were recently recognized at the state level. Ben Orlando, pharmacy manager at a Brookshire’s store in Monroe, Louisiana, received awards from the Louisiana Pharmacists Association (LPA).

TYLER, Texas – Three Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) pharmacy professionals were recently recognized at the state level. Ben Orlando, pharmacy manager at a Brookshire’s store in Monroe, Louisiana, received awards from the Louisiana Pharmacists Association (LPA). Charlotte Weller and Ben Sims, who serve in BGC’s corporate pharmacy operations in Tyler, Texas, were honored by the Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA).

Orlando received the LPA’s Chain Pharmacist of the Year Award sponsored by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Orlando also received the LPA’s Pharmacist of the Year Award, which is peer-nominated recognition for outstanding contributions to the profession.

Weller serves as health services manager for BGC. She received the TPA’s Pharmacist of the Year Award for outstanding contributions to the TPA and its mission. Weller currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Texas Pharmacy Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to advancing the profession through research and education. She previously served as president of the TPA and Chair of PharmPAC.

Sims serves as Pharmacy Compliance Analyst for the company. He was honored with the TPA’s Distinguished Pharmacy Technician Award for demonstrating excellence in the field and supporting the advancement of the profession. Sims currently serves as a technician member of the TPA’s board of birectors.
