WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has named Dr. Andrew Sussman president and chief operating officer of its MinuteClinic business.
In addition, he has been made CVS Caremark’s senior vice president and associate chief medical officer.
Sussman was previously executive vice president and chief operating officer of UMass Memorial Medical Center, the major teaching arm of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Before that he was chief medical officer of the Brigham and Women’s Physicians Organization.
In his new position Sussman will direct all clinical services and daily operations for MinuteClinic’s 500 walk-in health centers in 25 states. He will also guide the development of MinuteClinic’s retail health care services.
Sussman takes the reins from Chip Phillips, who ran MinuteClinic since May 2008. Phillips has become president of TheraCom, a CVS Caremark company that provides support to biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturers to help commercialize their specialty products.
