Tadrus takes helm as NCPA president

Christian Tadrus leads NCPA in 2026-2027, urging independent pharmacists to shape pharmacy practice, regulation and payment.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Christian Tadrus, PharmD, has been installed as the 2026-2027 president of the National Community Pharmacists Association, taking the helm as independent pharmacy owners navigate changes in reimbursement, regulation, technology and health care delivery.

Tadrus, an independent pharmacy owner from Moberly, Mo., was installed by the NCPA House of Delegates at the association’s 2026 Annual Convention in Kansas City. He has been an NCPA member for more than two decades and owns independent community pharmacies and a direct primary care clinic in rural Missouri.

In his inaugural address, Tadrus urged independent pharmacists to become more involved in discussions shaping pharmacy practice, regulation, technology, payment, and the broader health care infrastructure.

“Decisions made somewhere else can determine what happens at your counter,” Tadrus said. “We know what it is like to unlock the door in the morning, take care of patients, and make payroll. We know where the friction is. We know what our patients need, what our teams face every day, and what it takes to make a pharmacy work.”

Tadrus also encouraged pharmacy owners to look beyond adapting to existing systems and to consider developing new models.

“The work doesn’t stop at the pharmacy door,” Tadrus said. “We’re most effective when we are present before the decisions are made, but we cannot spend all of our energy adapting to systems designed by somebody else. There are places where we should feel free and give ourselves permission to build something different.”

Tadrus has held several leadership positions in pharmacy. He has served as president of the Missouri Pharmacy Association and the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy, and he currently serves as vice president of the latter. He was also appointed to Missouri’s Joint Oversight Task Force for Prescription Drug Monitoring.

Nationally, Tadrus is a former chair of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs and serves on the board of the Partnership for DSCSA Governance. He also serves as a strategy adviser for Tadrus Advisory Group. He attended Boston University and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis.

During the House of Delegates meeting, NCPA members also elected Brian Hose of Sharpsburg, Md., as the association’s newest vice president.

Delegates approved several resolutions addressing the independent pharmacy’s role in emerging health care models. They encouraged active participation in the CMS ACCESS program through CPESN and NCPA, supported independent pharmacies’ participation in direct-to-employer, direct-to-consumer, and direct-to-patient health care and pharmacy programs, and called for open, transparent, and nondiscriminatory standards for pharmacy network participation.

NCPA’s 2026-2027 board leadership also includes president-elect Justin Wilson of Norman, Okla.; chair Jonathan Marquess of Woodstock, Ga.; and immediate past president Kristen Riddle of Greenbrier, Ark.

Other board members are Steve Moore of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Dared Price of Winfield, Kan.; Ashley Seyfarth of Aztec, N.M.; Ken Thai of San Marino, Calif.; and Hashim Zaibak of Milwaukee, Wis.

In addition to Hose, NCPA vice presidents are Ben McNabb of Eastland, Texas; Ashley Moose of Monroe, N.C.; Scott Pace of Little Rock, Ark.; and Cole Sandlin of Hamilton, Ala.
