Reflecting Rite Aid Corp.’s expanded organization and breadth of health care services, Ken Martindale has been promoted to a new position, chief executive officer of Rite Aid Stores. At the time of the promotion he was president and chief operating officer.

The Affordable Care Act has reduced the number of Americans without health insurance by 15.8 million, or one-third, since 2013, new government data shows. In the first quarter of this year there were 29 million uninsured people, the National Center for Health Statistics said this month.

Mobile payments get easier at Rite Aid

Rite Aid Corp. announced that all of the company’s nearly 4,600 stores nationwide will accept mobile payments, including Apple Pay and Google Wallet. The drug chain began accepting Apple Pay and Google Wallet payments as of August 15.
