Shopko, having been unable to find a buyer, said Monday that it plans to begin liquidating its assets. The company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January, said it was still evaluating strategic options for its optical business.

WASHINGTON – Retail sales rebounded in January, the National Retail Federation said on Monday. Sales increased by 1.3% seasonally adjusted from December and by 3.6% unadjusted year-over-year. The numbers exclude automobile dealers, gasoline stations and restaurants.
