URAC to spotlight expanding role of pharmacist

Sam’s Club plans children’s health screenings

Sam’s Club this weekend is scheduled to host free children’s health screenings at all of its pharmacy locations. The Walmart warehouse club chain said Monday that its more than 500 pharmacies will hold children’s health checks on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Minnesota achieved the nation’s highest rate of electronic prescription use during 2011, according to Surescripts. The e-prescribing network said Tuesday that Minnesota achieved the No. 1 ranking in its 7th annual Safe-Rx Awards. Prescribers in Minnesota routed 61% of prescriptions electronically.

NCPA rejects credit card fee settlement

The board of directors of the National Community Pharmacists Association has voted against a proposed settlement of a lawsuit brought by retailers and trade groups against Visa, MasterCard and banks over credit-card swipe fees.
