Salix inks deal to buy Oceana Therapeutics

Salix Pharmaceuticals Ltd. plans to acquire Oceana Therapeutics Inc. for $300 million in cash. Under the acquisition agreement announced this week, Salix will purchase all of the outstanding stock of Oceana, a global provider of gastroenterology and urology therapeutics.

Energizer general counsel to retire; successor appointed

Energizer Holdings Inc. announced that Gayle Stratmann, vice president and general counsel, is retiring from the company next year.  Energizer said Tuesday that plans call for Stratmann, who has held that post since March 2003, to retire in the first half  2012.
