Take Care opens work-site clinic for Intel

Take Care Health Systems has opened another work-site health care center for Intel, expanding its nearly five-year relationship with the computer chip giant.

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Take Care Health Systems has opened another work-site health care center for Intel, expanding its nearly five-year relationship with the computer chip giant.

The Walgreens health clinic subsidiary said Thursday that it has launched an on-site medical center offering full service primary care at Intel’s Jones Farm Campus in Hillsboro, Ore.

According to Take Care, Intel’s Health for Life Center will serve about 5,700 people, providing routine primary care, urgent care, pharmacy services, lab testing, allergy and flu shots, travel medicine and vaccinations, and physical therapy. The facility also will identify chronic health conditions and provide education on nutrition and exercise to help reduce risk factors.

Staff at the Jones Farm health center will include a full-time doctor, nurse practitioners, a physical therapist, registered nurses, phlebotomists, certified medical assistants and health coaches, Take Care said.

Take Care operates Intel’s wellness and occupational programs in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Massachusetts and provides primary care services in Arizona. The walk-in clinic operator said plans are under way to open another on-site medical center at Intel’s Ronler Acres Campus, also in Hillsboro, Ore.

"Intel is on the forefront of an employer trend to provide innovative pharmacy, health and wellness benefits at the workplace by moving from an occupational health program to a more comprehensive array of health services for employees. We’re excited to expand our relationship to continue providing employees high-quality and convenient health care," Peter Hotz, group vice president for Walgreens Health and Wellness division, said in a statement. "When innovative companies like Intel invest in work-site health care, ongoing communication and education between patients and health providers is typically established, improving patient results, generating savings and increasing employee productivity and satisfaction — creating advantageous outcomes for all parties."

Take Care said it has been working with Intel since May 2006. Intel employees in Arizona have had access to on-site primary care since October 2008, and in 2010 roughly half of the Arizona Intel population used the center for primary care, resulting in more than 22,000 visits.

"The Health for Life Centers are part of Intel’s continuing commitment to provide health benefits and wellness programs that positively affect our employees’ health," stated Tami Graham, Intel’s director of global benefits design. "We have a long-term health care strategy focused on employee engagement, wellness and a delivery system that is transparent, efficient, connected and patient-centered. Our Health for Life Centers deliver to this strategy by providing high-quality, convenient and personalized care at a lower total cost for employees and Intel. We hope our new Jones Farm Center is every bit as popular and effective in engaging our employees in their health as we have experienced with our Arizona Centers."

Overall, Take Care Health Systems operates more than 370 work-site health centers nationwide.
