MINNEAPOLIS — Target Corp. announced on Friday that chief digital officer Jason Goldberger had left the company, “effective immediately.”

Goldberger’s responsibilities will be split between two Target executives, the company said in a statement. Work related to pricing and promotions is being taken over by Mark Tritton, Target’s chief merchandising officer, who joined Target in June from Nordstrom Inc. Mike McNamara, Target’s chief information officer, has assumed the digital side of Goldberger’s role and has been given the new title of chief information and digital officer.
“Taking this body of work in a new direction will help advance our efforts in these key areas during a pivotal time for Target,” said Brian Cornell, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer. “I have complete confidence that Mike and Mark’s leadership will have an immediate and positive impact on the team and the business.”
Online revenue increased by 31% last year, missing Cornell’s target of 40% growth. Target’s online sales contribute about 3% to overall revenue.
Goldberger joined Target in 2013 as a senior vice president of Target.com and was later promoted to Target.com president. He was promoted again in May, when he was assigned to the newly created role of chief digital officer. His departure comes two weeks after Jeff Jones, Target’s chief marketing officer, left the retailer to become president of Uber Technologies Inc.
