Teva begins shipping generic of Aricept

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has rolled out donepezil hydrochloride tablets, a medication for Alzheimer’s disease. The company said Wednesday that it has received Food and Drug Administration approval to market a generic version of Eisai’s Aricept Tablets in strengths of 5 mg and 10 mg.

JERUSALEM — Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has rolled out donepezil hydrochloride tablets, a medication for Alzheimer’s disease.

The company said Wednesday that it has received Food and Drug Administration approval to market a generic version of Eisai’s Aricept Tablets in strengths of 5 mg and 10 mg.

According to Teva, annual sales of the drug, including branded and generic sales, total approximately $2.3 billion in the United States, based on IMS Health data.
