As consumers plan their menu for their Thanksgiving dinner this year, expect more stores to compete with low prices on both individual ingredients and complete meal bundles, as seen in previous years, according to Money and Forbes.
With 69% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck heading into the holiday season Debt.com said more consumers are looking to stretch their dollar further.
With many stores focusing on price cuts, consumers can expect a more competitive market for Thanksgiving dinner deals than in past years. Many major supermarkets are offering deals on Thanksgiving dinner for 2025, building on a trend from previous years where stores such as Aldi and Walmart have provided low-cost meal options and promotions to combat inflation. These deals include budget-friendly meal kits, “inflation-free” bundles, and promotions on individual items like free turkeys with a certain amount of spending.

“Value grocery chains like Aldi and Walmart are helping families save money this Thanksgiving and holiday season with special meal deals that feed about 10 people for around $40 — less than $4 per person,” said Deborah Weinswig, founder and chief executive officer of Coresight Research.
She noted that these offers come at a time when many Americans are struggling with higher food prices. “A Coresight Research survey from September 2025 found that nearly seven in 10 consumers have noticed price increases when shopping.
These higher prices are driving changes in how consumers shop for groceries. To deal with higher grocery costs, shoppers are finding ways to save money by looking for deals, buying less food and choosing cheaper brands.”
She added that Walmart is making shopping easier with a one-click online basket that includes all 20 Thanksgiving items, available for pickup or home delivery, with free express delivery for first-time users. Aldi is offering a pre-selected list of about 21 items, which shoppers can buy in-store or online through Instacart, Uber Eats or DoorDash. Both stores are advertising their lowest-priced Thanksgiving meals in years. Walmart says it’s their best deal since the program began in 2022. The offers last through the holiday season — until December 24 for Aldi and December 26 for Walmart — allowing families to enjoy affordable meals not just on Thanksgiving but for Christmas and other celebrations too.”
“These meal bundles are not only low cost but also simple and convenient. Instead of shopping for each item separately, families can get everything they need — from turkey and sides to dessert — in one easy purchase. This helps reduce the stress of planning and prevents families from having to skip certain dishes due to cost. Offering complete meals at much lower prices than restaurants, Aldi and Walmart are helping more people enjoy holiday gatherings without spending too much,” Weinswig concluded.
Aldi is continuing its tradition of offering the most affordable Thanksgiving meal among national retailers. This year, the fast-growing grocer is making the holiday even more budget-friendly by lowering prices further — offering a full Thanksgiving spread for just $40. This holiday meal deal includes everything needed to serve 10 people, featuring a 14-pound turkey and ingredients for nine classic side dishes. Shoppers will find all the essentials, from stuffing and mashed potatoes to green bean casserole and pumpkin pie — a total of 21 individual items.
“The Aldi commitment to low prices is unwavering, and I am thrilled that we are able to offer an even more affordable holiday meal than last year,” said Atty McGrath, CEO of Aldi U.S. “Saving our shoppers money is our mission every day — but is especially important during the holidays when they need it most.”
For $4 per person — less than a pumpkin spice latte — Aldi shoppers can purchase all the items needed to fill their table. This includes 21 total products and ingredients to dish out a 14-pound turkey, rolls, cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie. Items that are part of the meal are purchased individually and marked on shelf. No coupons or memberships needed.
The savings couldn’t come at a better time. Recent consumer price reports show staples like fruits, vegetables and meats are more expensive than last year, contributing to higher grocery prices overall. Lowering its already low prices for the Thanksgiving season is just one more way Aldi helps shoppers save. In fact, a family of four can save up to $4,000 a year when they shop Aldi, from everyday meals to holiday spreads.
“Thanksgiving is the biggest food holiday of the year, and Aldi is proud to lead the industry once again on price,” said Scott Patton, chief commercial officer of Aldi U.S. “Price leadership is part of our DNA, and the holidays are when our commitment to value really shines. We believe families shouldn’t have to make trade-offs to feed everyone, especially at Thanksgiving.”
Shoppers can build their Aldi Thanksgiving feast by heading to their local Aldi store, ordering online for curbside pickup or placing an order through grocery delivery partners including Instacart, Uber Eats and DoorDash running October 15 through December 24. No matter how they shop, families can count on Aldi to make holiday hosting simple, convenient and affordable.

Walmart announced the return of its beloved annual Thanksgiving meal with its best offer yet. This incredible basket offers over 20 national and private brand items — including a Butterball turkey for 97 cents per pound, its lowest price since 2019 — as a one-click basket serving 10 people for less than $40. It’s also offering free express delivery on the meal basket for first-time Pickup and Delivery customers.
This year, Walmart is raising the standard even higher — with the most affordable holiday meal yet. Walmart’s 2025 abundant meal basket offers traditional favorites across national and private brands, for a full holiday feast serving 10 people for under $4 per person — the lowest price since Walmart started the program.
“We know every dollar and minute counts — which is why we are offering a low-priced, one-click Thanksgiving Meal Basket featuring iconic brands like Butterball and Stove Top alongside trusted Walmart private brand items. We want every family to be able to share a meal and celebrate without compromising on quality, quantity or tradition,” said John Furner, president and CEO of Walmart U.S.
Kroger is stepping up to the plate with a wave of savings across grocery staples, seasonal essentials and fuel. The retailer announced new fall promotions designed to deliver value where it counts most — from the dinner table to the gas pump.
The spotlighting discounts on key items such as beef, eggs, cheese and produce, along with an expanded Fall Fuel event that offers shoppers multiple ways to earn bonus points redeemable at Kroger Fuel Centers.
“As families have settled into back-to-school routines and traded grilling season for slow cooker meals, we are looking to help customers save in many areas of their budget — from everyday grocery hauls to seasonal essentials and fuel,” said Mary Ellen Adcock, executive vice president and chief merchant and marketing officer. “With everyday-low prices, weekly savings opportunities and fuel points, at Kroger, value is our key ingredient.”
The company said its latest savings campaign builds on its long-standing promise to combine freshness, quality and affordability, and adds that its Fresh & Quality Guarantees mean that lower prices do not mean a compromise on quality.
In addition to everyday-low prices, Kroger is offering a mix of digital and in-store coupons, buy-one-get-one promotions, and pickup or delivery discounts.
The fall savings push comes as grocery inflation continues to ease but remains above pre-pandemic levels, keeping value-conscious shoppers focused on discounts and rewards programs. Kroger is reinforcing its reputation for helping families make their budgets go further — particularly ahead of Thanksgiving travel and holiday gatherings.
“With these savings, customers don’t have to choose between a good meal and a good deal,” Adcock added.
Hy-Vee is offering a way to make holiday meals more affordable with its $30 Thanksgiving Meal Deal. This year Hy-Vee’s meal deal includes all the traditional ingredients needed to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for the best value. Meal packages start at $30, feed up to six people, and include a whole turkey or turkey breast as well as a dessert. The in-store and online offer runs November 3 through November 26. A gluten-free meal deal is also available for $50. Hy-Vee also will be running its popular “Buy a ham, get a turkey free” promotion throughout the month of November at all Hy-Vee locations.
Giant Eagle has rolled out a seasonal pricing initiative intended to provide customers with immediate relief from inflation. October 2 through the end of the year, the company will reduce and hold prices across more than 300 of the most frequently purchased products throughout its supermarkets, including family meal essentials like proteins, produce and pantry staples.
“We are excited to introduce our new seasonal pricing initiative, On Sale This Season,” said Justin Weinstein, Giant Eagle executive vice president and chief merchandising and marketing officer. “By lowering the prices of key items that our customers frequently purchase, we intend to deliver reliable everyday value and savings opportunities for Giant Eagle customers as they shop for their families throughout the season.”
The Thanksgiving meal special this year at Lidl’s stores also features a host of traditional holiday favorites the grocer said will feed a family of 10 for less than $3.60 per person. Begining November 5, consumers can shop for the ingredients needed for their holiday gathering at a total price of less than $36, a figure that is $10 less than a similar special that ran last year.
