COLUMBIA, Md. — TheraPearl has landed retail distribution at select Safeway food and drug stores, with all 1,200 of the supermarket chain’s stores slated to carry its hot/cold therapy offerings by December.
The company said Monday that TheraPearl products now available at Safeway stores include its Ankle/Wrist Wrap, Back Wrap, Sports Pack and Children’s Pals (Pearl the Pig and Ribbit the Frog).
"TheraPearl is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with a large food and drug retailer like Safeway," stated Daniel Baumwald, president of TheraPearl. "With this new relationship, we’re excited to expand into another grocery chain and put our brand at the fingertips of even more consumers who can benefit from hot and cold therapy to treat pain and injuries or make it a part of their exercise regimen."
Other retailers carry TheraPearl products include Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods. In March, the brand made its United Kingdom debut with a rollout to 500 Boots pharmacy stores.
Based on the concept of using a frozen bag of peas to treat pain, TheraPearl hot/cold therapy packs employ proprietary Pearl Technology that allows them to be chilled in the freezer or heated in the microwave and remain soft and pliable, conforming to the body to provide a doctor-recommended 20 minutes of pain relief therapy. The company noted that its products are a drug-free way to alleviate pain and are cost-effective, since they are reusable and easy to clean.
The Ankle/Wrist Wrap features an adjustable strap to provide targeted relief for pain-producing conditions, including sprains, strains, carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis. The Back Wrap provides fast, convenient pain relief for upper, middle or lower back pain, as well as abdominal cramps and muscle tenderness. An adjustable strap helps keep it comfortably in place. The Sports Pack is geared for post-workout relief or routine treatment of aches, pains, swelling and redness. TheraPearl’s Children’s Pals, available in colorful animal shapes, are used for soothing children’s insect stings, bumps and bruises.
