SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — H.D. Smith has promoted three senior executives as part of a plan to realign its top leadership.

The pharmaceutical distributor said Wednesday that it has appointed Joseph Conda as senior vice president of strategic planning and business development, Robert Appleby as corporate vice president of prescription products and Carolyn Webb as corporate vice president of marketing.

In his new role, Conda is responsible for assessing the changing business environment and ensuring that H.D. Smith evolves to provide its customers with the mix of services that support their growth, according to the wholesaler.

Appleby, meanwhile, is now responsible for driving the prescription pharmaceutical division’s growth; managing manufacturer and customer relationships; and implementing programs, services and other solutions to meet customer expectations and business objectives. And H.D. Smith said Webb will take charge of the company’s marketing and communications efforts, including analysis of the various industries within health care to develop solutions that will continue to position the distributor as a key partner in meeting pharmacies’ product and service needs.

H.D. Smith noted that the appointments are its latest organizational move as the pharmaceutical wholesaler aligns its senior leadership to address evolving customer needs.

"The focus of these top performers enables the company to maximize growth potential and continue to raise the bar in providing exceptional service to customers," Dale Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of H.D. Smith, said in a statement. "Combined, they bring more than 70 years of sales, product and industry leadership counsel and experience to serve our customers."

Earlier this week, H.D. Smith said it has appointed Harvey Tanenbaum as executive vice president, in which he will take a leadership role in all efforts connected to the company’s metropolitan New York-area expansion.
