CINCINNATI — Venerable cough/cold remedy brand Vicks NyQuil has added a sleep aid to its product lineup.
The Procter & Gamble Co. brand said Monday that the new over-the-counter product, ZzzQuil, is designed to provide relief for occasional sleeplessness and is non-habit forming.
ZzzQuil, which is being made available nationwide starting this month, also marks a new product category for P&G.
P&G noted that unlike some other over-the-counter offerings that meld ingredients to relieve minor aches and pains with a sleep aid, ZzzQuil helps relieve occasional sleeplessness through its single active ingredient, diphenhydramine HCI.
The company added that ZzzQuil is the only OTC sleep aid medication that comes in both liquid (warming berry flavor) and LiquiCap forms.
"ZzzQuil not only helps reduce the time it takes for a person to fall asleep, but allows them to sleep soundly so they can wake up rested and refreshed," commented Dave Tomasi, North American marketing director for Vicks. "It is a sleep-only solution that delivers effective relief to consumers suffering from occasional sleeplessness."
