Walgreens now offering flu shots for 2026-2027 season

More pharmacy staff, online scheduling and flexible appointment options make it easy for individuals and families to get vaccinated at no cost with most insurance.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens has begun offering flu vaccinations nationwide for patients ages 3 and older, with both walk-in availability and scheduled appointments at pharmacies across the country.

“Last year was one of the worst flu seasons in more than 25 years, yet every year I see people wait until the virus is already spreading before getting vaccinated,” said Rick Gates, chief pharmacy officer at Walgreens. “Getting vaccinated early is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and your family. At Walgreens, we’re making it easy with walk-in availability, convenient scheduling and, for most patients with insurance, no out-of-pocket cost for a flu vaccine.”

Patients can receive a flu shot by visiting a local Walgreens pharmacy or scheduling an appointment for up to four people through Walgreens.com, the Walgreens app, by texting “Flu” to 66879, or by calling 1-800-WALGREENS.

The retailer is enhancing its vaccination services following one of the most severe flu seasons in decades. To improve access and reduce wait times, Walgreens is increasing pharmacy staffing, allowing pharmacists to spend more time administering vaccines, answering patient questions and delivering faster service.

Walgreens has also upgraded its digital scheduling experience, offering personalized vaccine recommendations and the ability to book multiple vaccinations during a single visit. Expanded scheduling options allow families to reserve appointments well in advance and coordinate vaccinations for as many as four people at one time.

As an added incentive, myWalgreens members who receive a flu shot can earn $15 in Walgreens Cash rewards on their next eligible in-store purchase of $5 or more. Members will also receive 10% Walgreens Cash rewards on eligible purchases for the following 30 days.

Flu shots are available now at Walgreens locations nationwide, and appointments can be scheduled online, through the Walgreens app, by text or by phone. Walk-ins are also welcome.
