Walgreens has enlisted “crowdsourced, last-mile logistics” company Deliv to power same-day prescription delivery service in Dallas.
Beginning Monday, Walgreens customers of select Dallas-area stores can call in prescriptions for delivery from their local Walgreens pharmacy or drop off prescriptions and have them delivered at a more convenient, instead of having to wait at the store. The retailer inaugurated the service with Deliv at 67 stores in the Dallas market.
“We are always looking for new ways to offer customers ultimate convenience,” Dov Shenkman, group vice president of global inventory and transportation at Walgreens, said in a statement. “Delivery where customers want it, when they want it, is one way to engage with customers and remove some friction from their daily living.”
Deliv said it works with merchants on the back end, integrating the same-day delivery option into the checkout process — whether on the retailer’s website or mobile app or in one of its brick-and-mortar stores, providing a seamless experience. The retailer also holds ownership of data from each customer transaction, the company noted.
“Walgreens exemplifies forward thinking and putting the customer first at every level,” commented Daphne Carmeli, chief executive officer of Menlo Park, Calif.-based Deliv. “The Deliv team is thrilled to play an important role as Walgreens continues its efforts to improve the health and happiness of its customers.”
Deliv reported that it currently operates in 17 markets and has partnered with nearly 4,000 national and regional retailers and e-tailers, including Macy’s, Kohl’s, Williams-Sonoma and Bloomingdale’s, plus the nation’s six largest mall operators.
