DEERFIELD, Ill. — With the start of fall also comes the start of cold and flu season. Vaccines along with over-the-counter medicines will continue to fight symptoms, with market trends emphasizing multi-symptom products and herbal remedies.
“As cold and flu season approaches, flu vaccination remains the most effective way to protect yourself and your loved ones. With more Americans turning to pharmacies as their first and most convenient choice for immunizations, Walgreens continues to lead in making vaccines accessible nationwide,” explains Samantha Picking, senior director of immunization commercial management at Walgreens.
“To help keep communities informed, Walgreens will launch its annual Flu Index later this year. The Flu Index tracks weekly flu activity across the country, offering timely insights into where flu is spreading and reinforcing the importance of early vaccination,” she adds.
Picking says Walgreens is focused on removing barriers to access and making flu shots easy and convenient. “With same-day appointments, walk-ins and digital scheduling tools, the pharmacy is helping more people stay protected this season. In addition to flu, Walgreens also offers other key respiratory vaccines, including COVID-19, pneumococcal and RSV, to help protect against a range of seasonal illnesses.”
