MEXICO CITY — Walmart has launched Walmart+ in Mexico, expanding its membership program with a package that includes delivery, entertainment, connectivity, health care and rewards.
The program costs 89 Mexican pesos per month or 890 pesos annually and is designed to support Walmart’s omnichannel growth while strengthening customer loyalty. Walmart estimates the included benefits are worth more than 260 pesos per month.
Members receive free shipping on eligible online purchases and free scheduled delivery on orders of at least 399 pesos. Through November 30, Walmart is waiving the minimum-purchase requirement for those benefits as an introductory offer.
The membership also includes access to Universal+ Essential, an additional 2 GB of high-speed data with each BAIT recharge and double benefits through the Walmart Beneficios rewards program.
Walmart is also incorporating health care into the membership. Members receive access to Programa Salud Individual, which provides medical consultations and nutritional and psychological guidance, along with daily discounts of 5% to 8% at Walmart pharmacies.
“Walmart+ allows us to expand the value we offer our customers and enhance their experience with Walmart through a more comprehensive offering,” said Karthicka Krishnasamy, senior vice president of eCommerce and growth at Walmart de México y Centroamérica. “By bringing together benefits that address different everyday needs, we aim to build long-term customer relationships and continue accelerating the growth of our omnichannel business.”
The Mexico rollout follows Walmart+’s expansion beyond the U.S., including Canada, and reflects Walmart’s strategy to build a common membership platform adaptable to individual markets.
Walmart said its U.S. experience demonstrates the value of membership to its broader retail business. On average, Walmart+ members shop three times more often, spend four times as much, and visit eCommerce channels seven times more often than non-members, the retailer said.
Deepak Maini, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+, described the Mexico launch as an example of the company’s “build once, scale globally” membership strategy, which combines a core shopping-convenience offering with benefits tailored to local consumers.
