BENTONVILLE, Ark. — According to published reports, Walmart is in the the process of seeking buyers for its vacant health clinics, wrote Fortune magazine. Currently, buildings associated with the defunct Walmart Health division are empty and patients have had to seek care elsewhere.
In April, Walmart announced the closure of all its medical centers and telehealth services, adding that its pharmacies at retail centers will continue to operate as normal. Walmart Health had 51 dedicated primary and urgent care centers in multiple states before they were shut down.
Last week, Walmart sold MeMD—its virtual care and telehealth division—to technology company Fabric. As for the potential buyers of its brick-and-mortar health centers, Fortune—citing people familiar with the matter—said multiple health insurance companies have expressed interest, including Humana.
