BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart announced leadership changes effective February 1, 2025, to prepare for fiscal year 2026. Revealed in a January 17 memo, these updates aim to invest in associate development, enhance business performance, and improve customer experiences. The memo was issued by John Furner, Chris Nicholas, and Kath McLay, Presidents and CEOs of Walmart U.S., Sam’s Club U.S., and Walmart International, respectively.
Walmart U.S.
Lance de la Rosa, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Sam’s Club U.S., will transition to a new role as Executive Vice President of New Initiatives and Omni Fulfillment at Walmart U.S.
Dave Guggina, Executive Vice President of Supply Chain for Walmart U.S., will become Executive Vice President and Chief e-commerce Officer, succeeding Tom Ward.
Rob Montgomery, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, Business Operations & Planning for Walmart U.S., will be promoted to Executive Vice President of Supply Chain, filling the position vacated by Guggina.
Megan Crozier, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer for Sam’s Club U.S., will return to Walmart U.S. as Executive Vice President of General Merchandise.
Sam’s Club U.S.
Tom Ward, Executive Vice President and Chief eCommerce Officer for Walmart U.S., will move to Sam’s Club as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, End to End. In this role, Ward will oversee the execution of the omni experience, including clubs, supply chain, and eCommerce.
Julie Barber, currently Executive Vice President of General Merchandise for Walmart U.S., will take on the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Sam’s Club.
Diana Marshall will assume the newly created position of Chief Experience Officer at Sam’s Club, leading membership, product design, marketing, and advertising initiatives to create connected experiences for members.
Walmart International
Chad Donath, Senior Vice President of Club Operations at Sam’s Club, will transition to a new Senior Vice President of Operations role for Walmart International.
In the memo announcing the leadership changes, Furner, Nicholas, and McLay highlighted that they are part of Walmart’s broader strategy to invest in its people, drive innovation, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. The reshuffle reflects the company’s commitment to adapting to evolving market demands and positioning itself for sustained growth in the competitive retail landscape.
Walmart Canada
Gonzalo Gebara, CEO of Walmart Canada, will be leaving the company after 25 years of dedicated service. Gebara, who began his career with Walmart Argentina and held leadership roles in the U.S., Argentina, Chile, and Canada, has decided to return to Argentina to be with his family and pursue other interests.
Venessa Yates, currently Senior Vice President and General Manager of Walmart+ in the U.S., will become the CEO of Walmart Canada. Yates joined Walmart in 2016 and brings extensive retail experience from her tenure at ALDI Australia and Woolworths. Pending immigration approval, she will relocate to Canada.
Steve Schrobilgen, Senior Vice President of Walmart U.S. West Business Unit, will join Yates in Canada as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing end-to-end operations, including supply chain and real estate. Schrobilgen will also relocate, pending immigration.
