BENTONVILLE, ARK. —Walmart is expanding its commitment to accessible, affordable wellness by empowering customers with resources, support and expert guidance for every stage of their health journey. At the center of that effort is Lore Day, a Walmart pharmacist in Starkville, Mississippi, whose personal weight-loss journey has strengthened her ability to help customers navigate their own wellness goals.
After working with her healthcare provider and beginning a GLP-1 treatment plan, Day lost 150 pounds and gained a new perspective on the challenges many patients face when seeking support for weight management.
“It's been a life-changing experience—from feeling better and looking better to my self-esteem, mental health and being more confident as a provider in the pharmacy,” said Day. “I have a heart for it because I've been there, and I know what it can do and change.”
As a Walmart pharmacist for the past decade, Day regularly helps customers understand how weight-management medications work, what questions to ask their healthcare providers and how healthy lifestyle habits can support long-term success. Her experience reflects a growing focus among consumers on overall wellness, including preventive care, nutrition, fitness, mental health and sleep.
To support customers exploring or using GLP-1 medications, Walmart offers a comprehensive range of resources through its GLP-1 Support platform, including nutrition guidance, recipes, hydration and supplement recommendations, activewear, telehealth options and refrigerated prescription delivery.
In addition, Walmart’s Better Care Services platform connects customers with curated third-party providers offering virtual weight-management support, nutrition coaching, fitness programming and personalized care solutions.
Beginning July 1, eligible Medicare beneficiaries may be able to access certain GLP-1 weight-loss medications for $50 per month through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program. Walmart pharmacists are available to help customers understand their options and connect them with additional support resources.
Walmart Wellness Day Promotes Accessible Health Resources
Walmart’s commitment to everyday wellness will continue during Walmart Wellness Day on Saturday, July 25. The nationwide event will offer free health screenings and assessments, low-cost immunizations, pharmacist consultations, vision screenings and giveaways at Walmart stores across the United States.
This year’s event will also feature weight-management resources, including GLP-1 education, nutrition support, medication guidance, information about same-day pharmacy delivery and access to virtual care services through Better Care Services. Customers are encouraged to visit their local Walmart pharmacy between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. local time to connect with pharmacists and learn more about available health resources.
Making Wellness More Affordable
As part of its broader wellness strategy, Walmart is expanding access to healthy products at affordable prices. This summer, customers can find more than 300 Rollbacks on fresh foods, including watermelon, blueberries, cherries and organic ground beef, along with more than 150 wellness-focused Rollbacks on products such as protein bars, protein powders, vitamins and supplements.
Walmart is also introducing Wellness Minis in 2,000 stores and online. Featuring emerging wellness brands in trial sizes starting at $2, the program gives customers an affordable way to discover new products before purchasing full-size versions.
