BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart has announced a significant brand refresh reflecting its journey as a people-focused, technology-driven retailer while honoring its history. Since its founding in Bentonville, Arkansas, in 1951, Walmart has become a global leader in delivering affordable prices, enriching communities, and driving innovation.
A Modern Evolution Rooted in Legacy
Walmart’s updated brand identity highlights its growth from a traditional one-stop shop to a digital-first retailer offering comprehensive services. The refresh embraces Walmart’s enduring commitment to helping customers save time, live healthier, and achieve their goals while remaining a community cornerstone.
Key Features of the Brand Refresh:
- Revitalized Wordmark: Inspired by founder Sam Walton’s iconic trucker hat, the new custom font combines heritage with modern design.
- Enhanced Spark Symbol: Representing Walmart’s energy and guiding role in its customers’ lives, the Spark remains a central element.
- Refined Color Palette: The signature True Blue and Spark Yellow tones have been updated to blend Walmart’s heritage with a fresh, contemporary feel.
- Approachable Tone: The new visual and verbal identity emphasizes relatability, showcasing Walmart’s connection to its diverse customer base.
“Our refreshed brand identity captures the spirit of Walmart’s evolution while staying true to the values Sam Walton built this company on,” said William White, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Walmart U.S. “As our customers’ needs evolve, so will we. Walmart’s transformation reflects our dedication to innovation while remaining the same trusted partner for our customers.”
Rolling Out the New Walmart
The refreshed branding will debut across Walmart’s physical stores, website, mobile app, and marketing materials beginning in January 2025. It was first introduced in October 2024 at Store 4108 in Springdale, Arkansas, with a gradual rollout planned for remaining stores and assets throughout the year.
Key milestones in the rollout include:
- The updated branding will be launched on Walmart.com, the Walmart app, and corporate platforms this month.
- Integrating the refreshed look at Walmart’s new Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas.
- Applying the redesign to stores nationwide as part of ongoing updates.
A Commitment to the Future
