SUNBURY, Pa. – Weis Markets today announced its pharmacies now offer updated COVID-19 vaccines including ones from Moderna and Pfizer which were approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) on August 22, 2024.
The 2024-2025 vaccines protect against the dominant KP.2 COVID-19 variant by lowering the risk of infection and preventing severe disease, hospitalization, and death.
“We’ve just received shipments of the new vaccine and our certified pharmacist immunizers are ready to administer them,” said Nick Cicco, Weis Markets Vice President of Pharmacy. “When it comes to immunizations, Weis pharmacies offer customers a strong combination of convenience and service.”
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the updated vaccine for adults and children six months and older. It also recommends this immunization for people who are 65 or older and those in high-risk categories.
