TORONTO — Wrigley has extended its Excel chewing gum brand in Canada into the cough/cold category with the debut of a lozenge.

Wrigley’s Excel Lozenges

Wrigley Canada said the new Excel Lozenges come in honey and lemon, cranberry and blueberry, and extra-strong menthol flavors and carry a suggested retail price of $1.39 (Canadian) for a 10-piece pack. The product is available now across Canada at major retailers, including pharmacies, convenience stores and supermarkets.

According to the company, Excel Lozenges are the only lozenge in Canada to contain menthol, eucalyptol and vitamin C in providing temporary relief of sore throats and nasal congestion while alleviating coughs.

"We know Canadians look for brands they can trust when searching for products to meet a particular need," commented Dan Alvo, director of marketing for Wrigley Canada. "Excel is a highly trusted Canadian brand and is best-positioned to launch a new product into the lozenge category. We’ve brought a highly effective product into the marketplace, just in time for the cough and cold season. We trust Canadians will find it to be a product they can rely on when they are not at their best this winter season."

A Wrigley-commissioned survey of over 1,500 Canadian adults, conducted by Leger Marketing, found that 93% of Canadians said that when choosing a cough and cold lozenge, it’s important that the products address their symptoms. In addition, 81% believe that it’s important to go with a brand they trust when selecting cough and cold lozenges.
