OAKVILLE, Ontario — Weight-control supplement brand Hydroxycut has rolled out a free weight-loss mobile app.
The new Hydroxycut app enables users to set reminders for when to take supplements and get refills.
Iovate Health Sciences International Inc., maker of Hydroxycut, said the app gives consumers an easy way to monitor their weight-loss results by providing convenient meal tracking, supplement reminders and an exercise plan. The Hydroxycut weight-loss app is available for download via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
People looking to lose weight can be pressed to meet proper nutritional intake levels and hydration, as well as exercising regularly, Iovate noted. The new app is intended to minimize the challenges associated with everyday diet programs through a comprehensive approach tailored to meet the needs of men and women, regardless of their fitness levels.
The app was designed and developed based on insights from a recent study of Americans views on New Year’s resolutions. The research found that 56% of Americans will make New Year’s resolutions to adopt a healthier lifestyle but, within the first week, 4% (6 million people) will have already broken those commitments.
Forty-eight percent of those surveyed will make losing weight their New Year’s resolution — the No. 1 resolution — and 31% said that weight loss is the hardest resolution to uphold.
“When we embarked on this unique study, we wanted a deeper understanding of the mind-set and challenges American’s have when making the important decision to adopt a New Year’s resolution that focuses on supporting a healthy lifestyle through weight management,” chief marketing officer Brian Cavanaugh stated. “The results of our study prompted our consumer insights team to design and launch an easy-to-use, free app that will help people making healthier lifestyle changes easier so people can stay on track for the long term.”
Other key findings of the study included that 25% of respondents have no plans to change their diet, one in three Americans overestimate the recommended amount of physical activity, and one in five Americans plan to walk more in 2017.
Hydroxycut products are sold nationwide at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Amazon and other retailers.
