NEW YORK — Regional food and drug retailer A&P has signed a three-year agreement in which Innovatix LLC will be its exclusive provider of specialty pharmacy services.

Innovatix, a non-acute care group purchasing organization, said Tuesday that under the agreement A&P will use Innovatix Specialty Pharmacy Management, a turnkey solution for retail pharmacies to expand into the specialty drug market.

With the solution, A&P will receive access to specialty medications plus key back-office services, such as dispensing, data management, clinical and reimbursement support, and patient financial assistance.

"We are very excited about our new partnership with Innovatix to provide comprehensive specialty medication service to our patients," Robin Page, vice president of pharmacy at A&P, said in a statement. "The expertise and resources that Innovatix offers will assist us with providing product as well as full medication therapy management support for our patients."

Also under the agreement, A&P will be able to access the extensive contract portfolio of total business solutions that Innovatix shares with its national partner Premier, Inc.

"We are pleased that A&P has joined our Specialty Pharmacy Management program," stated Innovatix President and chief executive officer John Sganga. "Innovatix is confident that its experience collaborating with key stakeholders in the specialty market, together with its ability to manage complex purchasing data, will prove valuable as A&P grows its specialty pharmacy business."

A&P operates more than 300 supermarkets, more than half with pharmacies, under the banners A&P, Food Basics, The Food Emporium, Pathmark, SuperFresh and Waldbaum’s in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.
