Value-based care arrangements align provider reimbursement with achieving health care quality measures and reducing health care costs. These arrangements incentivize positive member outcomes and encourage proper utilization of services and support practices in becoming more efficient. Value-based care — which highlights the patient experience — is critical to the sustainability of managed care and to the health and wellness of Illinois Medicaid members.
Value-based arrangements enable providers to share in the cost savings while delivering quality care. The health centers are using the funds primarily to modernize their operational processes, implement new population health or data analytics tools, and extend clinic hours to better serve their community.
Aetna Better Health of Illinois offers access to quality, affordable health care to individuals through the state’s HealthChoice Illinois Medicaid program. The health plan serves over 430,000 members in 102 counties.
