Aetna Better Health of Virginia opens community resource center in Roanoke

Aetna community engagement staff will be on-site to help visitors understand coverage and access care, aiming to reduce barriers and improve health.

ROANOKE, Va. — Aetna Better Health of Virginia, part of CVS Health, has opened a new Community Resource Center (CRC) in Roanoke, expanding access to health, wellness and social care services for local residents.

Located within the EnVision Center, the CRC is designed to help individuals and families better navigate the healthcare system, connect with community resources, and manage their overall health. The CRC offers support for a range of needs, including maternal health, chronic disease management such as diabetes, and assistance with accessing benefits and social services.

The facility is equipped with computers, teleconferencing technology, and private consultation spaces, enabling residents to participate in virtual healthcare visits and receive one-on-one guidance. A dedicated team of Aetna community engagement staff will be on-site to help visitors understand their coverage and access care, with the goal of reducing barriers and improving health outcomes.

“Improving health starts with meeting people where they are, and this new Community Resource Center gives us a tangible way to do that in Roanoke,” said Joel Gray. “By bringing together trusted guidance, practical tools and connections to local resources, we’re helping individuals and families take meaningful steps toward better health.”

The CRC opening coincided with the EnVision Center’s annual spring community cookout on April 4, featuring a free book fair, food, and giveaways. The Aetna Wellness on Wheels mobile unit was also on site, offering free blood pressure and BMI screenings to attendees.

“The EnVision Center was created to be a trusted hub where residents can access the services and support they need in one place,” said Lynelle Lewis. “Adding Aetna Better Health of Virginia’s Community Resource Center strengthens that mission by expanding access to health-focused resources.”

Aetna Better Health of Virginia serves approximately 242,000 Medicaid members across the state.
