SEATTLE — In a bid to bring greater convenience to budget-minded food shoppers, Amazon has unveiled a new grocery delivery subscription option to Prime members and customers using EBT in over 3,500 cities and towns across the United States.

Priced at $9.99 per month for Prime members, this subscription service offers unlimited grocery delivery on orders exceeding $35 from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and a diverse array of local grocery and specialty retailers featured on Amazon.com. Subscribers also get access to a suite of convenient delivery and pickup options, according to the company, which says that customers holding registered EBT cards can enjoy the same subscription benefits without a Prime membership for just $4.99 per month. As an added incentive, a complimentary 30-day trial is available for those eager to experience the service firsthand.

“Our goal is to build a best-in-class grocery shopping experience—whether shopping in-store or online—where Amazon is the first choice for selection, value, and convenience,” says Tony Hoggett, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide grocery stores.

The subscription service is designed for customers making regular grocery purchases, promising to save them time and money.

Key highlights of the subscription include:

  • Unlimited grocery delivery on orders over $35 from Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, and select local retailers for Prime members in over 3,500 cities and towns across the U.S.
  • Exclusive savings for Prime members in Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market stores, in addition to the existing benefits offered with Prime membership.
  • A discounted subscription fee of $4.99 per month for customers with a registered EBT card.
  • Access to convenient delivery and pickup time slots, including one-hour delivery windows and unlimited 30-minute pickup on orders of any size.
  • Priority access to Recurring Reservations for weekly grocery orders.

The subscription service, which underwent successful piloting in select cities in late 2023, has received positive feedback from participants, according to the company, which says that more than 85% of respondents expressed high satisfaction with the unlimited free delivery benefit, citing savings on delivery fees and enhanced convenience as primary reasons for continued subscription.

Customers interested in learning more about the grocery subscription benefit or signing up can visit the Amazon website. Additionally, Prime members shopping at Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market can capitalize on exclusive deals, both online and in-store, while eligible Prime members can earn unlimited 5% back on purchases with their Prime Visa.
