Amazon helping flood-impacted communities across central Texas

Within hours of the flooding, Amazon provided financial assistance to its nonprofit partners and coordinated the delivery of food and emergency supplies from Whole Foods Market to first responders and displaced residents in Kerrville, Texas.

SEATTLE — Amazon is working alongside first responders, nonprofit partners, and relief agencies to aid communities devastated by severe flooding across central Texas.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, deadly flash floods claimed at least 95 lives, including 27 children and counselors at a summer camp along the Guadalupe River. As search and rescue operations continue, Amazon is closely coordinating with local partners to assess emerging needs while prioritizing the safety of its employees and delivery partners in affected areas.

Within hours of the flooding, Amazon provided financial assistance to its nonprofit partners and coordinated the delivery of food and emergency supplies from Whole Foods Market to first responders and displaced residents in Kerrville, Texas. Partner organizations in the response include the American Red Cross, Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country, The Johnson Center, All Hands and Hearts, and the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center.

“As the full impact of the flooding comes into view, we are working with our partners to identify gaps and deliver aid where it’s needed most,” Amazon stated in its update.

Amazon’s disaster relief efforts use the company’s logistics network to quickly deliver essential supplies to communities in need. Since 2017, Amazon has donated and delivered more than 25 million relief items—including hygiene kits, diapers, baby formula, and water—to people impacted by over 190 disasters worldwide. The company also operates 15 disaster relief hubs globally to accelerate emergency response efforts.

Amazon plans to continue working directly with its nonprofit partners in Texas to provide aid and logistical support in the days and weeks ahead.
