Amazon launches Health AI

SEATTLE — Amazon Health Services has expanded access to its agentic health assistant, Health AI, making the tool available to customers on Amazon’s website and mobile app, after previously offering it exclusively to One Medical members.

The rollout provides everyday shoppers with a personalized AI health assistant, helping them handle routine health questions, manage medications, and connect with professional care when necessary.

Health AI examines a user’s conditions, medications, and health history to offer personalized health guidance. Users can enable more detailed customization by giving the system permission to access their medical records via the nationwide Health Information Exchange, a secure network used to share patient health data among providers.

The tool also integrates with Amazon Pharmacy, enabling users to handle prescription renewals and coordinate care directly through the platform. When professional medical support is required, Health AI can connect users with One Medical providers via messaging, video consultations, or in-person visits.

Eligible Prime members can also access free direct-message care visits with a One Medical provider for over 30 common conditions, including cold and flu, allergies, acid reflux, pink eye, and urinary tract infections.

According to the American Academy of Physician Associates, nearly two-thirds of Americans report feeling overwhelmed by the healthcare system and wish their doctors had more time to address their concerns. Amazon says Health AI is designed to help simplify routine health tasks and provide faster access to care.

The company noted that Health AI complies with HIPAA and is meant to support, not replace, the relationship between patients and healthcare providers.

Health AI is launching for Amazon customers starting this week, with wider U.S. availability expected in the coming weeks. Interested consumers can join a waitlist on Amazon as the service continues to expand.
