SEATTLE – Amazon Pharmacy announced on Thursday the expansion of its same- and next-day delivery service to hundreds of cities and towns across Ohio, supported by the opening of two Same-Day Delivery sites in Lockbourne and Middleburg Heights. The service will provide millions of residents with fast, reliable, and free medication delivery directly to their homes. Amazon noted that Prime membership is not required to access its full-service digital pharmacy or to benefit from many of its offerings.

Over the past year, 79 pharmacies have closed across Ohio, leaving many residents with fewer options to access their medications. The launch of these two sites is part of the company's plan to expand Same-Day medication delivery to more than 4,500 cities and towns by the end of 2026.
“The launch of Amazon Pharmacy’s Same-Day medication delivery in Ohio comes at a time when many people need convenient and affordable access to medications,” said Dawn Marie Dragos, Pharmacist-in-Charge of the Amazon Pharmacy Middleburg Heights Same-Day Delivery site. “Residents can now count on reliable access to a wide range of medications for faster treatment and better medication adherence to help them live healthier lives.”
The two Amazon Pharmacy sites are located within Amazon's Same-Day Delivery facilities in Middleburg Heights and Lockbourne, each spanning more than 200,000 square feet. The facilities feature advanced automation technology for fast prescription filling, temperature-controlled storage to ensure safe medication delivery and are staffed by trained, licensed pharmacists. Even in towns outside the Same-Day Delivery coverage area, next-day and two-day prescription delivery is often available.
"Customers in Ohio already rely on Amazon for fast delivery of groceries, household essentials and more," said Jennifer Sze, Pharmacist-in-Charge of the Amazon Pharmacy Lockbourne Same-Day Delivery site. "Now, they can expect the same exceptional support and convenience for their medications."
Ohio residents can save on prescriptions with Amazon Pharmacy's price transparency feature, which allows customers to compare cash and insurance co-pay prices to find the lowest cost. A coupon savings feature also automatically applies manufacturer-sponsored coupons at checkout, saving customers more than $200 million on prescriptions including GLP-1s and insulin.
Additionally, Amazon Pharmacy offers RxPass, a $5 monthly subscription that provides Prime members access to more than 60 commonly prescribed medications, regardless of the number of prescriptions needed, all delivered free to their door. A JAMA study found RxPass users saw a 30% decrease in out-of-pocket medication costs. Amazon Pharmacy also offers 24/7 pharmacist support to all customers via phone or online chat, so Ohioans can get answers about their prescriptions anytime. Its unique caregiver feature enables caregivers to securely manage loved ones' medications through their own Amazon Pharmacy account.
Columbus and Cleveland area residents can also access primary care through Amazon One Medical, which offers same and next-day in-person and remote appointments. The offices provide comprehensive healthcare services, including preventive screenings, chronic condition management, and immediate care for common concerns, with on-site lab services and a thoughtful office design. Amazon One Medical membership can be added as a Prime benefit for Amazon Prime members at just $9/month or $99/year or purchased at OneMedical.com to access on-demand virtual care services at no extra cost.
Ordering prescriptions through Amazon Pharmacy is simple: customers ask their healthcare provider to send a prescription directly to Amazon Pharmacy, just as they would with any pharmacy, and receive free, fast, reliable delivery to their doorstep.
