AmerisourceBergen closes PharMEDium acquisition

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — AmerisourceBergen Corp. has finalized its acquisition of PharMEDium Healthcare Holdings Inc., a national provider of outsourced compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) to acute care hospitals.

AmerisourceBergen announced the $2.575 billion cash deal, with private investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, early last month.

Plans call for PharMEDium to become a part of AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp. (ABDC). PharMEDium is the leading provider of customized outsourced CSPs that meet specific hospital and physician clinical needs and quality standards in formulations not otherwise commercially available.

AmerisourceBergen said Friday that, as previously reported, it has included a 22 cents to 26 cents net contribution from PharMEDium in its guidance for fiscal 2016 adjusted earnings per share of $5.73 to $5.90 and expects to generate $30 million in synergies by fiscal 2018.
