TORONTO — AmerisourceBergen Corp. division Innomar Strategies has begun providing U.S. manufacturers access to the Canadian health care market through its new 160,000-square-foot distribution center and wholesale/import expertise.

Innomar said Tuesday that it provides customized third-party warehouse and logistics solutions to clients that would otherwise be unable to operate in Canada. Under its establishment license from Health Canada, the company acts as an importer for manufacturers without a physical presence in the country.

Historically, the Canadian health care sector has been difficult for small and midsize health care manufacturers to access because of complex government regulations and the substantial investment needed to establish a Canadian-based business, according to Innomar. As a result, the company said, reaching Canada’s 35 million people has been "a distant prospect" for many manufacturers.

"By making the intricacies of logistics easier for manufacturers, Innomar Strategies serves as a seamless extension of the customer’s business to provide worry-free, turnkey distribution services," stated Todd Soltysiak, senior director of third-party logistics services at Innomar.

Innomar added that its state-of-the-art, Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant distribution facility provides clients with an end-to-end solution. The fully temperature controlled facility comprises distinct specialty environments, including validated fridges and freezers, and provides controlled substance and narcotics storage. It is also equipped to track expiration dates and is mapped and monitored 24/7.

"Instead of foreign manufacturers investing in real estate, hiring staff and purchasing infrastructure resources, Innomar Strategies can support entrance into Canada by turning fixed costs into variables that will ebb and flow with business needs," according to Soltysiak.
