Health Enterprises markets a range of consumer health care products under the Acu-life brand.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Apothecary Products said Health Enterprises, which is based in North Attleboro, Mass., will operate as an independent business unit, and no significant changes to day-to-day business operations are planned at this time.

Health Enterprises makes and markets a broad range of consumer health products — such as pill reminders, oral syringes, ear plugs and first aid items — under the Acu-life brand and private labels. The company currently partners with customers in more than 50 countries.

“We are very excited to bring these two complementary companies together. This acquisition reinforces our core market position in medication management while greatly enhancing our eye, ear and injury care portfolio,” stated Nathan Hanson, president and chief executive officer of Burnsville, Minn.-based Apothecary Products. “Additionally, through combined best practices and insight sharing, our abilities are greatly enhanced to provide innovative self-care solutions for consumers and greater growth to our customers. I have great admiration for the Health Enterprises team and their ability to deliver meaningful innovation that truly benefits customers and consumers.”

Apothecary Products’ roster of brands includes Ezy Dose, Flents, Protechs and Wipe ‘N Clear in the medication management; pharmacy supply; and eye, ear and injury care categories. Its products, including private label, are sold through food, drug, mass and club retailers nationwide, as well as independent pharmacies and wholesalers. The company has a presence in over 80 countries.

Plans call for Glenn Leman, former owner and CEO of Health Enterprises, to continue in a consultative role within the new organization.

“We are excited about the opportunity to leverage the strengths of both organizations to better serve our customers and consumers with innovative solutions,” Health Enterprises president Brendan Leonard stated. “Our expanded portfolio and combined expertise in delivering consumer preferred solutions will provide a strong platform for future innovation and growth.”
