DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Product Quest Manufacturing and McCord Research have launched hospital-grade skin care kits under the brand name At Home – Where Healing Happens.
The companies said Tuesday that the eight At Home kits — available at select CVS Pharmacy stores and at CVS.com — address specific skin conditions commonly faced by patients over the age of 65. The line includes skin care formulas for diabetic skin care, chronic dry skin, antifungal skin care, fragile/bruising skin care, venous skin care, incontinent skin care, radiation skin care and edema skin care.
Designed to improve patient outcomes in the home, the At Home Skin Care kits employ a two-step process to manage advanced skin conditions while ensuring the skin is properly cleansed, moisturized and protected. According to the companies, the products are based on the same medical protocol practiced by hospitals, long-term care facilities and home health agencies.
“The proportionate number of older adults in the United States is unprecedented and, as Baby Boomers continue to age, it is critical we make available treatments and remedies that address chronic skin conditions frequently faced by this population,” stated John Regan, president of Product Quest Manufacturing, a health and wellness product developer with facilities in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Kannapolis, N.C. “At Home’s extensive product line will ensure patients can improve their individual skin conditions and prevent serious complications from the comforts of their own home, the best place for healing to happen.”
Developed by D. Elizabeth McCord, Ph.D., FAPWCA, of McCord Research, each hospital-grade skin care kit has the added benefit of Viniferamine, a scientifically advanced blend of nutrient-rich small molecules curated for their healing qualities. Viniferamine, originally developed by Dr. McCord in 2011, is a combination of organic extracts, including those of the vitis vinifera, a common grapevine that native to the Mediterranean region and historically used in treating body ailments.
“For patients, the biggest disparity between institutional and home care settings is skin care,” McCord commented. “Previously, these types of strong, effective skin care remedies were only available at hospitals and in the medical community. With the launch of At Home Skin Care, these treatments are now broadly accessible outside of the hospital, with recognizable packaging and easy-to-understand instructions. This not only helps to improve patient outcomes in the home setting, but also helps to restore dignity and confidence in patients.”
