Alberta is latest province to cut generics prices

The Alberta Pharmacists’ Association (RxA) has blasted plans by the government of Alberta to slash generic drug prices. As part of Alberta’s 2013 budget, lawmakers agreed to reduce generics prices from 35% of branded drug prices to 18% as of May 1.

Increased sales in the front end helped Walgreen Co. post a slight gain in same-store sales for March. Walgreens said Wednesday that comparable-store sales in March edged up 0.7%, an improvement from a 0.6% decline in February.
