Bayer names new consumer health leaders to accelerate data and commercial strategy

The leadership changes affect key roles spanning analytics, marketing and commercial operations for the maker of brands including Aleve, Alka-Seltzer and Claritin.

WHIPPANY, N.J. — Bayer has announced a series of executive appointments within its consumer health business as the company looks to strengthen data-driven decision-making, marketing effectiveness and commercial execution across its global operations.

The leadership changes affect key roles spanning analytics, marketing and commercial operations for the maker of brands including Aleve, Alka-Seltzer and Claritin.

Analia de la Fuente has been appointed global chief data officer and will oversee insights and analytics worldwide, helping advance the company's data-enabled capabilities. De la Fuente joins Bayer after holding senior regional and global leadership positions focused on consumer insights and market strategy across categories including confectionery, personal care and household products. Her previous experience includes roles at Mondelez International and Unilever.

In addition, Samantha Avivi has been named chief marketing officer, where she will lead brand-building, marketing and consumer strategy efforts.

David Tomasi has been appointed global chief commercial officer, responsible for commercial operations and business performance across all markets. Tomasi previously served as Bayer's U.S. president, a position now assumed by Trevor Thrun, who joins the company's U.S. country leadership team.

Avivi, de la Fuente and Tomasi will all serve on Bayer's consumer health leadership team.

“I'm convinced these leaders will help accelerate growth, strengthen customer and consumer focus, and unlock the full potential of data and artificial intelligence to build trusted brands, ultimately advancing our Road to Billions strategy,” said Julio Triana, president of consumer health.

According to Bayer, the appointments are intended to create a faster, more agile organization by combining expertise in brand building, commercial execution, consumer engagement and data-driven decision-making.
