WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Musab Balbale is leaving CVS after four years as chief merchandising officer.
"I’m incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished together," he wrote on LinkedIn. "From sharpening our merchandising fundamentals to deploying new AI tools that improve how we work, we drove meaningful customer growth in an intensely competitive retail landscape.
"What I cherish most are the people — talented teammates who challenged and laughed with one another, moved with urgency, and stayed relentlessly focused on serving customers. I have no doubt the team will build on the strong foundation and continue its momentum. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity, the partnerships, and the friendships formed along the way, and I’m excited for what comes next."
Balbale was named Chain Drug Review's Merchant of the Year for 2023. He said late that year that CVS Pharmacy is not only a retailer but “part of a broader health care ecosystem. And for us, while sales are important, the ability to offer services to help improve health outcomes of our customers and members is equally important.”
He joined CVS in 2022 after serving as vice president and general manager of Walmart Beauty. He joined Walmart six years earlier when it acquired jet.com.
