LONG BEACH, Calif. — TJL Enterprises’ flagship Colic Calm brand has expanded its retail distribution to 15,000 U.S. stores.
The company said Monday that Colic Calm Gripe Water, designed to ease gas and stomach upset in babies (known as colic), is available at drug chains including CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens and Duane Reade as well as at major retailers like Babies R Us.
A homeopathic formula, Colic Calm Gripe Water contains nine natural ingredients to provide relief for infants: chamomile, caraway, ginger, aloe, fennel, peppermint, lemon balm,
blackthorn and vegetable carbon. And unlike other dietary supplements, Gripe Water is a Food and Drug Administration-regulated product. It works fast, causes no side effects and is free of alcohol, sugar, simethicone, sodium bicarbonate, herbal oils and extracts, wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, and animal products, according to TJL.
"The great thing about Colic Calm is that it helps with infant reflux as well," commented Colic Calm creator Jacqueline Lawrence. "Instead of parents using prescription reflux drugs on their babies, which have not been tested on patients so young, they can turn to a safe, homeopathic treatment. Colic Calm also helps baby’s digestive system adjust to new foods, relieves hiccups and soothes stomach upset that often results from increased saliva production during teething."
Each two-ounce bottle of Colic Calm retails for less than $20 and includes an oral dispenser that enables parents to extract just the amount needed to provide relief. The baby care formula is dropped between the infant’s cheek and gums, and it can be repeated every half hour for up to three doses, with up to six doses maximum per day. The company urges parents to consult with a physician to determine the exact recommended dosage that will be most effective.
TJL Enterprises also offers Tummy Calm, a homeopathic medicine to relieve gas, bloating and upset stomach in children of all ages. The company, too, said on its website that it’s conducting a clinical trial of an adult gastrointestinal medicine, called GastroCalm, that’s slated for release in 2013. The all-natural formula is designed to ease a variety of adult digestive issues, including acid indigestion.
