CINCINNATI — In tandem with the launch of a new power toothbrush for kids, Crest and Oral-B have allied with actress and mom Jennie Garth to encourage children to brush up on their oral hygiene before heading back to school this fall.

The Procter & Gamble oral care brands said Thursday that along with Garth, they hope to educate families about how important it is to practice healthy lifestyle habits at an early age, since those habits can translate into good health into adulthood.

To promote good dental habits, Crest and Oral-B are introducing products to their kid-focused lines that make the process fun and worry-free. Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health FOR ME, a line of oral care products for tweens (age 8 and up), has launched a new electric toothbrush to address oral care issues affecting this specific age group, particularly those with braces.

Oral-B Stages, designed for children ranging from four months to 7 years, has added a Disney favorite, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, to the product line.

"As a parent, I want to build a strong and healthy foundation for my daughters, which is why I have always tried to instill good habits related to nutrition, fitness and oral care," Garth said in a statement. "Sometimes it’s more difficult to keep routines in place during the summer. The back-to-school season is a great time to build a schedule that works for the whole family and to identify the right tools to ensure we take the best care of ourselves."

Crest and Oral-B are partnering with CafeMom, an online community for moms nationwide, to host a special event featuring Jennie Garth and her 9-year-old daughter Lola in New York City on August 8, during which parents and kids can participate in fun activities and learn about the newest dental health products from Crest and Oral-B. Garth will also be answering consumers’ questions on the Oral-B Facebook page.
