WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) will host its annual Day on the Hill on June 10, bringing industry members to Capitol Hill to engage lawmakers on key legislative priorities affecting the dietary supplement sector.
The event comes amid growing bipartisan attention to preventive health, supply chain resilience and regulatory modernization. CRN said this year’s discussions will emphasize the role of dietary supplements in supporting consumer access to safe, science-backed nutrition products, while advocating for policies that balance stronger oversight with continued innovation and consumer choice.
A central focus of the advocacy agenda is the Dietary Supplement Listing Act of 2026, which would establish a mandatory FDA product registry requiring manufacturers to submit ingredient lists, allergen statements and electronic labels to a publicly searchable database. CRN supports the measure as a way to enhance transparency, improve compliance and give regulators better tools to identify bad actors.
The group will also promote the Dietary Supplement Regulatory Uniformity Act, which aims to reinforce FDA authority as the single national regulator and prevent a patchwork of state-level requirements. Additional priorities include expanding eligibility for dietary supplements under FSAs and HSAs, as well as addressing trade issues such as tariffs, supply chain disruptions and cross-border ingredient flows.
“As our industry continues to grow and evolve, it is essential that policymakers understand both the benefits our products provide and the importance of a balanced, modern regulatory framework,” said Julia Gustafson. She noted that Day on the Hill provides a platform to advance priorities, including mandatory product listing, regulatory consistency and expanded consumer access.
CRN President and CEO Steve Mister added that direct engagement remains critical. “There is no substitute for sitting across the table from a lawmaker and explaining what your company makes, who relies on your products and what’s at stake when policy gets it wrong,” he said.
