CVS Caremark appoints Gold CIO

CVS Caremark Corp. has named former Avaya Inc. executive Stephen Gold as its new chief information officer.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has named former Avaya Inc. executive Stephen Gold as its new chief information officer.

The 53-year-old Gold, who has over 30 years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale technology initiatives in the pharmacy benefits management, e-commerce and retail industries, is focusing on new and differentiating technology solutions for CVS’ retail and PBM businesses.

“Steve is a proven technology leader with a track record of delivering leading-edge solutions to business,” CVS Caremark president and chief executive officer Larry Merlo says.

“Technology is important to us as a pharmacy innovation company, enabling us to drive solutions to improve quality, cost and access to health care for millions of Americans,” he says. “I’m confident Steve will bring strong vision and introduce innovations that will position us for ongoing success.”
