WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health today announced the appointments of Len Shankman as president of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness (PCW) and Lucille Accetta as chief pharmacy officer. Both will report to Prem Shah, group president of CVS Health, and the changes will take effect immediately.
Shankman, who has been with CVS Health since 2002, will oversee the company’s front-store and retail pharmacy businesses, which span more than 9,000 locations. His leadership will focus on delivering digitally integrated health and wellness experiences. Previously senior vice president and chief financial officer of PCW, Shankman has also held leadership roles in CVS’s Specialty Pharmacy business and Coram, the company’s specialty infusion branch. Before entering the corporate sector, Shankman served in the U.S. Navy.
“Len’s deep knowledge of our business, paired with his strategic execution and operational expertise, will further position CVS Pharmacy as a trusted resource in the communities we serve,” said CVS Health president and CEO David Joyner.
In her new role as chief pharmacy officer, Accetta will advocate for pharmacists' evolving role in health care and oversee CVS Health’s Specialty Pharmacy, Coram, and Omnicare operations. Since joining CVS Health in 2017, Accetta has held senior leadership roles, leveraging her extensive experience from previous positions at Teva Pharmaceuticals, Express Scripts, and Medco. Her work will emphasize connecting CVS’s pharmacy assets to improve patient care.
“Lucille leads with heart, ensuring our specialty pharmacy operations deliver the excellence patients facing complex diagnoses deserve,” said Joyner. “Her commitment to the practice of pharmacy makes her an exceptional advocate for the profession.”
The leadership changes come as CVS Health reports strong performance in its Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness segment, including a record 27.3% retail pharmacy prescription share and continued progress on its CVS CostVantage model. The company said these strategic advancements underline its focus on improving health care access and affordability.
