WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy has brought back its program that allows shoppers to double their quarterly ExtraBucks rewards.

“ExtraCare members are always looking for more savings and rewards,” senior vice president and chief marketing officer Rob Price says about the program that runs until mid-December as part of CVS’ 50th anniversary celebration. “It’s a great way to thank our loyal customers by providing them with even more value during each shopping trip.”

He says that ExtraCare members earn 2% back on everything they buy in a CVS/pharmacy store except prescriptions. The rewards are paid to customers in quarterly ExtraBucks rewards in January, April, July and October.

To be eligible for the double rewards shoppers are given the option of signing up online or in a CVS store. Price says that once enrolled, shoppers will see all eligible front store purchases will be doubled until December 15.

All double quarterly ExtraBucks rewards will print on customers’ receipts from January 1 to February 15.

Price says the double rewards promotion is the latest effort in CVS/pharmacy’s quest to help ExtraCare members have new and personalized ways to save. For example, members can enroll in programs that offer additional savings opportunities that fit their lifestyles such as ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards and ExtraCare Beauty Club.

CVS says that more than 70 million people across the country have ExtraBucks cards.

The retailer first launched the Double Quarterly ExtraBucks promotion in September 2012.
ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards made its debut this past February. Members earn $5 ExtraBucks Rewards for every 10 prescriptions filled. CVS noted that the program incentivizes customers to refill prescriptions and, in turn, stick to their medication regimens.

Credit and rewards also are earned for healthy behavior such as getting immunizations or managing prescriptions with resources like text-message alerts or e-mail refill reminders via CVS.com. Each person who joins can earn up to $50 Pharmacy & Health ExtraBucks Rewards annually.
